Treatment Overview
Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. A titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it fuses naturally over several months to become a permanent anchor for your new crown. The result looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural tooth — for life.
Key Benefits
Unlike dentures or bridges, implants are designed to last a lifetime with proper care — no replacements, no adhesives.
Implants integrate with your jawbone, so they feel and function exactly like your own teeth. No slipping, no clicking.
Missing teeth cause bone loss over time. Implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the sunken appearance associated with tooth loss.
Eat anything you like — implants are as strong as natural teeth. Bite into an apple, enjoy steak, no worries.
Your Journey
A clear, step-by-step process — no surprises, no pressure.
A full clinical assessment including digital X-rays and a 3D CBCT scan to check bone density and plan precise implant placement.
Under local anaesthetic (sedation available), the titanium implant post is precisely placed into the jawbone. Most patients describe it as easier than a tooth extraction.
Over 3–4 months, the implant fuses naturally with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. A temporary crown keeps your smile complete during this time.
Once healed, a small connector called an abutment is attached to the implant post. This is the anchor for your permanent crown.
Your bespoke porcelain crown — matched precisely to your surrounding teeth — is fitted and adjusted for a perfect bite. Final result: indistinguishable from a natural tooth.
Common Questions
Most healthy adults with sufficient jawbone density are excellent candidates. We assess bone density, gum health, and medical history at your consultation. Patients who smoke or have uncontrolled diabetes may require additional planning but can often still have implants placed.
With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, the implant itself can last a lifetime. The porcelain crown on top may need replacing after 15–25 years depending on wear, but the titanium post remains permanent.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so you feel no pain during placement. Most patients report that it is more comfortable than they expected — comparable to or easier than a tooth extraction. Some soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and well managed with standard pain relief.
Typically 4–6 appointments spread over 3–6 months. Your personalised treatment timeline will be discussed in full at your initial consultation.
Exactly the same as your natural teeth — brush twice daily, floss, and attend your regular hygiene appointments. The implant cannot decay, but maintaining healthy gum tissue around it is essential for long-term success.
